Integrated Reading and Writing 1 is one of our reading classes for kids, helping young students build foundational reading, vocabulary, and writing skills through engaging fiction, thematic units, and structured literacy activities in a supportive after school reading program.

Integrated Reading & Writing 1: Program Details
Integrated Reading & Writing 1 is one of our reading classes for kids that combines reading and writing into a cohesive program with nine thematic units. Each unit includes workshops focused on reading comprehension, vocabulary development, and writing, using a mix of classic and contemporary fiction.
Students build vocabulary through read-alouds, independent reading, and activities that emphasize word meanings, context clues, and word parts.
The course includes a curated nine-novel book list featuring Frog and Toad Are Friends, Flat Stanley, Mercy Watson to the Rescue, Eugenia Lincoln and the Unexpected Package, Magic Tree House: Dinosaurs Before Dark, The Magic Finger, Who Cloned the President, Nancy Drew: Scream for Ice Cream, and Dory Fantasmagory.
