We’re thrilled to bring you this week’s class highlights! Our students have been actively developing their skills in reading, writing, and debate. Here’s a glimpse of what they’ve been working on:


Speech & Debate (Grade 6-12)

Wednesdays | 6:15 - 8:45 PM


This course, designed for grades 6-12, introduces key debate skills. Students will learn to analyze topics, build strong arguments, support claims with evidence, and develop effective rebuttals. The course also enhances critical thinking, communication, and impact analysis skills.


This Week’s Highlights:


  • Enhancing Logical Thinking: Students explored the importance of logical reasoning in debate, learning to structure arguments effectively and avoid common reasoning errors.

  • Understanding Fallacies: The class focused on two key types of fallacies—Formal Fallacies, which arise from invalid argument structures, and Informal Fallacies, which stem from flawed reasoning or misleading rhetorical tactics.

  • Strengthening Critical Analysis: By recognizing and addressing logical fallacies, students sharpened their critical thinking skills, improving the clarity, precision, and persuasiveness of their debate arguments.


Students enhanced their logical reasoning skills by learning to structure arguments effectively, identify formal and informal fallacies, and strengthen their critical analysis in debates.


Integrated Reading & Writing 3B (Grade 6-8)

Thursday | 5:45 - 7:15 PM


This class, designed for students in grades 6-8, focuses on novel reading and literary analysis. Students will learn various reading strategies to analyze plot development, character interactions, and themes of the works. The course also aims to enhance writing skills, improving students' reading comprehension and analytical abilities.


This Week’s Highlights:


  • Vocabulary Review: The teacher revisited key vocabulary from last week’s reading to reinforce students' understanding and language skills.

  • In-Depth Character and Plot Analysis: Students continued reading The Outsiders, focusing on understanding complex character traits and the development of the plot.

  • Critical Thinking Development: By analyzing characters' motivations, the teacher encouraged students to deepen their text interpretation and cultivate critical thinking skills.

Academic Writing 1B (Grade 2-3)

Thursday | 4 - 5:30 PM


This course is designed for students in grades 2-3 and focuses on metaphorical language and creative writing to enhance language skills. Students will learn about metaphors and comparisons, applying these concepts to their writing. The course will also help students develop writing skills, mastering the structure of introductions, body paragraphs, and conclusions.



 This Week’s Highlights:


  • Introduction to Persuasive Writing: The teacher introduced the fundamentals of persuasive writing, emphasizing the importance of structure in crafting effective arguments.

  • Topic Selection and Brainstorming: Students were guided on how to choose a compelling topic and brainstorm ideas to support their persuasive arguments.

  • Skill Development: Through this lesson, students gained a deeper understanding of persuasive writing techniques, improving their ability to write convincing and structured pieces.


This week, students learned the fundamentals of persuasive writing, focusing on structure, topic selection, and brainstorming to enhance their writing skills.
