Empowering Young Creators Through Writing, Art, and Real-World Action
This is a guided creative project that takes students through every stage of a real publishing journey — from concept and writing to illustration, editing, layout, and final printing. With expert mentorship at each phase, students complete an original illustrated novel with an official ISBN, distributed through Amazon or IngramSpark.
The work students produce is more than an academic exercise. Through partnership with CHOC Children's Hospital of Orange County, students donate copies of their published books to young patients, offering reading material and emotional comfort during their treatment.
What begins as a personal creative project becomes a meaningful act of community contribution.

Why Publishing Matters
Published and Distributed
Students publish original books with official ISBNs through Amazon or IngramSpark — creating real, verifiable academic and creative works that last well beyond the program itself.
Top-Tier School Recognition
Top universities and private schools look beyond grades for evidence of passion, creativity, and sustained impact. A published book demonstrates all three at once, in a form admissions officers can actually verify.
Social Responsibility
Books donated to CHOC reflect more than a finished project — they show sustained effort, thoughtful insight, and genuine community engagement, qualities that strengthen any competitive application.
Our Partnership with CHOC Children's Hospital
CHOC (Children's Hospital of Orange County) is a nationally renowned pediatric medical center known for exceptional healthcare and comprehensive family support. iLearn and The Artist Lab partner with CHOC to put student-authored books directly into the hands of young patients — offering reading material, comfort, and a sense of connection during their treatment.
Through this partnership, students experience what it means to create work that matters to someone outside their classroom. The skills they build — coordination, communication, leadership — are tested in real, public-facing ways.
